Dr. Damien Williams takes up joint appointment in Philosophy and Data Science at UNC Charlotte

Dr. Damien Williams has taken up a joint appointment at UNC Charlotte as Assistant Professor of Philosophy & Data Science, having recently completed his PhD in Science & Technology Studies at Virginia Tech. His research focuses on how technologies such as algorithms, machine intelligence, and biotechnological interventions are impacted by the values, knowledge systems, philosophical explorations, social structures, and even religious beliefs of human beings. He also works in the area of disability studies, and recently published an article in Slate magazine, “How Heeding Disabled People Can Help Everyone Survive Crises.”
